South Surveying as an equipment supplier
South has one of the longest histories in its industry, having been in operation since 1989 and in its current form since 1998. Dimense Oy selects equipment suppliers based on product performance and overall quality, factory technical support and warranty, and supporting materials such as user manuals. South's equipment has proven to be highly efficient and durable.
You are More Efficient than Ever
ALPS1 can be used to perform not only normal RTK position measurement, but also to shoot photos or videos in real time or to obtain coordinates for hundreds of points in a few minutes using a laser beam. It surpasses traditional RTK in data acquisition speed. Naturally, the equipment also includes a tilt compensation unit, which automatically corrects the error caused by a tilted measuring stick. Laser measurement with ALPS1 achieves a wider operating range and fewer dead angles, which enables remote measurements in areas where the quality of the GNSS signal is poor. Previously challenging locations, such as spaces under roofs and obstacles, are now easily measured. During staking (i.e. location search), ALPS1 also displays the image taken by the camera and the desired point in red on top of the camera image. In site surveying, there is the option of measuring either normally with a measuring rod or remotely measuring the positions of points using a laser, or as a third option, remote measurement of the object using photogrammetry and 3D modeling, both using camera images.
You are More Versatile than Ever
Image data stored for a long time can be reused at any time. These features are particularly well suited for unique tasks, such as documenting excavation sites in public spaces in cities. Laser measurement allows surveyors to collect target points in dark environments, such as at night or semi-indoors.
You are More Flexible than Ever
Video capture allows surveyors to remotely measure points from up to 15 m away, eliminating the need to physically approach each point. This method significantly reduces physical strain when working in a large area. Laser measurement allows users to perform very fast, non-contact measurements when there is very little room to move, such as in a narrow alley. In such a situation, laser is faster than video capture.
To Overcome the Difficulty
Lasers bring more possibilities for piling surveying, or location finding/marking. When you encounter tall obstacles near a target point in the field that block satellite signals, laser and photogrammetry come to the rescue.
ALPS1 can integrate CAD drawing content into real projects, helping users mark out targets faster. The front camera helps users find the direction of a target from a distance and understand the characteristics of the environment. The bottom camera allows for precise marking as you approach the target. With two cameras, marking out is easier and more intuitive.
Work Faster, Work Better
With the advancement of laser measurement, ALPS1 can directly measure road lengths from a distance, perform area measurements for defined areas, calculate earthworks and much more. This extends from simple point measurements to comprehensive calculations, helping users complete measurements faster on projects.
In forestry, ALPS1 combines laser measurement with eccentricity measurement, allowing users to quickly calculate the center point of tree trunks. Combined with 3D modeling, it not only provides intuitive and visual results, making complex data easier to understand and analyze, but also allows for the integration of data from other sources, resulting in more diverse and comprehensive results.
Save Weak Signal
The SOUTH S805 receiver inside the ALPS1 has 1698 channels for tracking multiple satellites and weak signals. The RTK success rate and speed have been significantly improved. Under dense forest and surrounded by buildings, it only takes tens of seconds to get RTK FIX, i.e. normal measurement mode. The receiver in the ALPS1 is the same receiver as the winner of the measurement made on Dimense Oy's own test track, the South G4, link here.
